Double Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars

  • 1 c firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 margarine softened
  • 1/2 c chunky peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1-3/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 c mini real semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 35 milk chocolate candy kisses
1. Heat oven to 350
2. Line 13x9 in pan with foil, leaving a 1-inch overhang. Set aside.
3. Combine brown sugar, margarine, and peanut butter in large bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often until creamy.
4. Add eggs and vanilla; continue beating until well mixed.
5. Reduce speed to low. Add flour, baking powder, baking soda. Beat until well mixed.
6. Stir in chocolate chips.
7. Pat dough into prepared pan.
8. Sprinkle with sugar.
9. Bake for 20-22 min or until golden brown.
10. Immediately press evenly spaced chocolate candies into warm bars.
11. Allow to cool completely.
12. Remove bars from pan using edges of foil.
13. Cut into bars; cutting between candies.
Makes 35 bars.
